February Reviews

Renée Zellweger and Theo Woodall in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
THE WHITE LOTUS: Season three is off to an incredible start. Dare I say—this might be the best season yet. There will be 12 episodes in total and the finale premieres Sunday, May 4 on HBO Max.
RUNNING POINT: A reformed party girl (Kate Hudson) must prove herself as a businesswoman when she's unexpectedly put in charge of her family's pro basketball team. This was just released February 27 on Netflix and so far, it’s a refreshing and welcomed break from all the dark dramas out there lately.
FUNNY WOMAN: This award-winning, British, period piece comedy is pure joy. Do yourself a favor and watch seasons one and two, now streaming on PBS Passport.
VALERIA: The fourth and final season of this Spanish take on Sex and the City did not disappoint. Centered around romance and friendship, this show is light-hearted, sexy, and just good fun. Netflix.
BLACK BIRD (2022): A four-time Emmy nominated true crime miniseries starring Taron Egerton as Jimmy Keene, a convict whose 10-year prison sentence will be ended if he can elicit a confession from suspected serial killer Larry Hall. This series is dark, but excellent all around—I dare you not to binge it. Apple TV+.
BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY: The fourth installment in the beloved series comes nine years after Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and 24 years after it all began. Beautifully nuanced, nostalgic, and laugh-out-loud funny, this one won’t let you down. Now streaming on Peacock.
THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS: Mindy Kaling’s hit HBO comedy series returned for season three in November and wrapped up in January. The girls get a new roommate and I gotta say, I’m a huge fan. This show is truly good fun.
THE SIX TRIPLE EIGHT (2024): Set during WWII, this is the true story of eight hundred and fifty-five black women who joined the war effort to address a three-year mail backlog. I found this incredibly moving. Stream it now on Netflix.
THE RECRUIT: An action drama about a fledgling CIA lawyer who gets tangled up in games of international politics. Season two was six episodes compared to eight in season one, and overall entertaining, but not great. Worth watching if you’re into this genre. Netflix.
ZERO DAY: An American political thriller series featuring an ensemble cast led by Robert De Niro as a former President investigating a devastating cyberattack in the US. I had high hopes for this show, and despite having a strong cast, I felt the supporting storylines were dragged out and underwhelming. Netflix.
