SERIES SPOTLIGHT
Off Campus, On the Syllabus

In the spirit of delivering unpretentious recommendations, I have to talk about ‘Off Campus,’ Prime Video's wildly successful adaptation of the first book in Elle Kennedy's bestselling romance series — now a pop culture phenomenon and one of this year's biggest streaming sensations.

I'll be honest, it’s all a little cringe-inducing at first. But somewhere between the absurdly attractive cast, romantic tension, love triangles, and endless drama, it becomes surprisingly difficult to stop watching. The series is undeniably predictable, but that's also what makes it such an easy weekend binge or comfort watch. You generally know where things are headed, but with a few fun surprises along the way.

While the performances won't be winning any awards, they're strong enough to keep the story moving. Music lovers will appreciate the show's carefully curated soundtrack, with several memorable needle drops tied to the leads' shared love of classic hits. Beneath all the hookups, hockey games, and relationship drama, ‘Off Campus’ manages to deliver genuine humor, heart, and even a bit of emotional depth as it explores the characters' complicated family dynamics and traumatic pasts.

Season 2 will shift focus to fan-favorite couple Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla), adapting Kennedy's third book, The Score. Interestingly, the series is rearranging the order of the novels, skipping over The Mistake for now and introducing its future lead, Grace, during Season 2 before centering her story alongside Logan in Season 3. The sophomore season is currently in production and expected to arrive in mid-2027. Consider me officially enrolled until further notice.
